Donatello is  a sweet and spunky 4-year-old Cavalier who’s playful and highly affectionate. If you are looking for a youthful dog minus the puppy stages, Donut is for you.  He loves all people and dogs and displays a really nice, natural confidence with both human and dog strangers.  He’s respectful of the older pup and the cat in his foster home and has good dog manners on the street.  He loves walks but is not fully “leash trained” yet. He is a true companion dog and seeks company and cuddles.  Although like most cavaliers he prefers to be in your company, he tolerates alone time in his foster home.  Currently, he is regularly left alone for short stretches during the day as well as overnight, both without whining or barking.   Donut is moderately active. He loves to go out and will want to supervise your yard work, have daily walks, play fetch, and steal some socks or toys.  At 4 years old though, he shows good control of himself, quieting down quickly and nicely to literally melt in your lap when you come inside. He’s housebroken and rides well in the car.  He will thrive in a home that can balance play/activity with high affection and quiet time including shared nap space. Through no fault of his own, he has been in a couple foster homes in a short period of time.  Along the way he started chewing on things.  But Donut is a naturally confident and even-keeled dog and a quick learner to boot.  Those qualities shone though after his routines settled and he got regular reassurance and lap time. He ceased chewing in his current foster home.  A patient adopter will understand that Donut wants to be with them, bond, and once secure they will be rewarded with a loyal, goofy sidekick. Donatello is quick to bond and we really want to get him to his forever family. Could it be you?”
