When Froggy first came to his foster home he was jealous of a resident dog and he was definitely underweight. Under his foster's care, his dental extractions healed and Froggy's appetite improved. He is starting to gain a little weight and I don't feel his ribs and backbone quite so easily anymore. He loves the dental chews that I bought from our vet and has also taken an interest in any tags attached to blankets and pillows and will likely chew on them as well. For about 2 weeks, Froggy was very skittish and jumpy. Loud noises and quick movements made him flinch and he sought comfort with his foster dad, who likes to watch TV on the sofa. Froggy’s foster dad became "his person" and would follow him around on the first floor, especially "supervising" him while he worked on his laptop in his office. When another cavalier joined our household, Froggy, again, was jealous. It took about 10 days to realize he had a pal, not a competitor for our affection or food. Froggy is now tolerant of newer people showing interest in him, even though I still think he is a little bit uncomfortable with it. I have not heard him bark yet, but he did let out a whine when I put him in his crate overnite once when he was not housebroken yet. He is doing well on his walks outside, since there are a lot of interesting smells over 2 acres of property. I want him to gain a little more weight and stamina before we go on hour walks around the lake. Froggy is just as happy sitting in my lap or on the couch with us as he would be playing. He is a very content dog, as long as he is in your presence and his needs are met. He does seem rather agile and has jumped from the couch to the coffee table and tried to climb over the back of the couch. He is comfortable with both of his foster parents and will let us leash him for walks, but in the beginning, I had to chase him around to do that, but he always let his foster dad leash him! He is now exploring other parts of the house, but always returns to our side and likes being with the other cavalier for company. He is truly a Velcro cavalier!
