When Josie arrived some time ago, she was very thin and after much attempt nutritionally, she was unable to gain weight. it was determined via lab tests that she has EPI (exocrine pancreatic insufficiency), the inability to digest food, therefore not receiving nutrients from it. the correction is an enzyme that is applied to food to help break it down. Wah la! it works, Josie is now in good weight. She does have bilateral luxating patellas (knee caps), currently taking and herbal supplement that is helping with pain and inflammation, however, surgery may be the answer. Josie is still shy and somewhat skiddish with humans, the result of little human contact in her prior life. She is good with other dogs, ignores cats and fine with child who understand a gentle hand is needed. Josie favorite activity is going for a walk! Although not ready to be adopted just yet, information will be available when he is ready. Please read "How to Adopt" at http://www.gccrescue.com/AdoptCavalier When new rescues arrive GCCR first looks to its waiting list of approved adopters to find the best home for each Cavalier.
