Cavaliers need your help!

In recent months Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue (GCCR) spread the word far and wide that GCCR will help the neediest Cavaliers. People who love Cavaliers heard the message.  Now GCCR takes in more and more Cavaliers burdened with genetic afflictions, malformed bodies and behavioral problems.  Many needy Cavaliers come to GCCR simply because they are old.  See MORE.
Do you WANT to help needy Cavaliers?  Learn HOW.  Look at the faces of Natasha and Nigel -- two sweet, recently rescued Cavaliers. Feel their needs in your heart, and then choose among the ways you can join in their and other Cavaliers' care.

3 years old, NATASHA was discarded by a commercial kennel in Ohio, and brought to GCCR by a rescuer who just knew something was really wrong with her heart.  Natasha has a condition called supraventricular tachycardia -- SVT. At times her heart beat will be abnormally rapid, causing excessive blood flow into the heart's chambers.  In her brief stay with GCCR she has already made several trips to a cardiologist. Natasha will require medications three times a day for SVT and for severe mitral valve regurgitation, plus regular EEG monitoring.

A Missouri shelter accepted 6 yr old NIGEL from an owner who described him as "an indoor outdoor dog."  The shelter immediately turned him over to GCCR for the special care he needs. Nigel's coat is dry, scarce, with huge open patches (one ahead of his tail) that have now healed; likely he's allergic to fleas who were with him for an extended time.  Nigel's mouth must have hurt; he lost 10 teeth during a dental.  After he gains strength in his thin, 11 lb body, Nigel will have surgery for his badly luxating left rear knee.  His right rear leg is severely arthritic and causes him evident pain; it is "fixable" only by pain medication.  The hope is that in time Nigel will walk straight and strong.

Veterinary costs are 80% of GCCR's expenses; clearly the largest item in GCCR's budget.  Adoption fees fall far short of covering veterinary costs.  GCCR depends on donations to continue its work.  Most of those donations come in the latter part of the year, when folks are giving.   CHOOSE A WAY YOU CAN HELP....
