There are just so many wonderful things to say about Ruben. He is a sweet, easy going boy who is eager to please. He is also friendly, playful and enjoys children of all ages. Ruben is obedient, crate trained and loves the companionship of other dogs. Sadly, Ruben did not receive proper socialization with people and is uncertain on how to approach them; this can make him appear shy and aloof. However, when given the opportunity to settle in, he loves to be petted. Since being in his foster home, he has become very attached to his humans. Foster Mom has said he has become sort of a “hoarder”. He creates a nest and gathers items from around the home that personally belong to his humans. He does not hurt any of these items, but just wants to cuddle with them. She believes he may have been an old hoarding man in his past life. It is obvious Ruben loves his people, and just has a different way of showing it. Ruben enjoys playing with squeaky toys and daily walks. He loves his “babies” (stuffed toys), and is not possessive of them. This sweet boy also loves to play in a fenced yard with children and other dogs. After a day full of fun, he appreciates a nice quiet spot to snuggle in and take his daily nap. Ruben does have an eye irritation that does not seem to bother him. He may need drops on a use-as-needed basis. Ruben also has been diagnosed with a Grade III heart murmur. He is not showing any symptoms, but regular doctor visits will be required to make sure he stays happy and healthy. Ruben has so many good qualities, and has so much potential. He needs a human who understands his needs, who is patient, and most of all give him the unconditional love that in time he will graciously return.

Special Needs

Will need regular vet visits to monitor Grade III-IV heart murmur. Does not currently regular medication.
