This is the story of Sophie (once Sadie) a Cavalier mix: 1-8-07 Sophie released to GCCR by a Madison rescue organization saying: "Sadie was transferred to us after being seized from a puppy mill by Shawano Co. Humane Society; she was brought to them with 4 puppies." 1-18-08 GCCR placed Sophie with a family in Somonauk IL. Fast forward to August 2014. A Charleston SC shelter called GCCR saying that Sophie (she had a GCCR microchip) and her Beagle/Basset friend had been dropped off, supposedly by someone who found them. All GCCR's old records for Sophie's adopters led nowhere. Sophie is very young appearing for her estimated 11 years. After all the turmoil in her life she is very timid about strangers, and gets comfort and strength from calm, always friendly Fred. It would be wonderful if Sophie could live out her life with Fred, but if that doesn't work out she'd be happy to "velcro" a human, sniff and chase critters in a fenced yard, and sleep touching her human in a big bed. Sophie just wants to be close to a loving body.

Special Needs

Sophie's mid range heart murmur has an unusual sound. A veterinary cardiologist did an echocardiogram; he diagnosed heart leaks on both sides of the heart, plus high blood pressure in her lungs. Her symptoms are likely to be controlled by daily administrations of Vetmedin.
