Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue

VOLUNTEER APPLICATION

Greater Chicago Cavalier Rescue (GCCR) is a not for profit organization dedicated to the health and welfare of our breed and is run strictly from donations received from the public. No person is ever paid for his/her efforts expended as part of the GCCR.

GCCR operates 100% by volunteer effort. Only through the commitment of people like yourself can GCCR save the lives of needy Cavaliers.  There are many different types of volunteer activities. GCCR looks to match your volunteer interests and skills with needs of the organization.

You will be contacted by the Volunteer Coordinator within the next week.

Thank you for applying to volunteer!

Notes:

1. Field help shows below the field, where applicable.

2. If you are an existing GCCR contact, our system will update your current record if you use the same first name, last name and email address that we already have for you.

What volunteer services are you interested in providing to the GCCR? (Check those in which you have interest.) If you are interested in Fostering or Adopting a rescued Cavalier, please submit a Foster/Adoption Application (see www.gccavalierrescue.org). Your answers to these questions will help us match your interests and skills to a volunteer assignment.
Have you been involved with animal rescue in the past? If so, tell us about your experience. How many and what kind of dogs have you owned? Do you have any dogs now? What kind? Male or female? How old? Do you have any training or experience that would enable you to test or evaluate a rescued dog's temperament?
Do you feel competent to identify a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, that is, to determine whether a stray dog is a Cavalier as opposed to a Cavalier mix or other breed?

Have you ever completed an obedience course with a dog? What level? Are you involved in any dog sports, dog-assisted therapy, or other activities involving dogs?
Would you be willing to transport a rescued dog? If so, how far would you be willing to travel (each way)? Is your vehicle large enough to accommodate a Cavalier-size crate(approx. 18" x 24")?
If you are willing to check your local shelter(s) regularly for Cavaliers and establish a working relationship with shelter staff, please tell us which shelter(s).
Some volunteer assistance requires specialized skills, such as Internet access, Internet savvy, computers ease, word processing, bookkeeping, tax work, fundraising and/or marketing experience. What skills would you like to donate?
We would appreciate knowing how you found about GCCR. It helps us find other volunteers to support the organization.

Have you ever been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor involving mistreatment of animals? If so, please explain. Have you ever been denied privileges by the American Kennel Club, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club, USA, or any other all-breed or breed-specific registry orclub? If so, please explain.
